About This Symposium
Women, Work, and the Future of the Economy is a research-led symposium presenting original findings from scholars across five continents on the gendered dimensions of labour, entrepreneurship, and economic policy.

Policy changes when evidence is clear, credible, and in the hands of those who can act on it. This symposium is designed to close the distance between academic research and the practitioners, advocates, and policymakers who need it most.
Presentations will cover:
- Gender pay gaps — new data from 18 countries on causes, trajectories, and what interventions work.
- Informal labour — how women’s economic contributions are systematically undercounted.
- Entrepreneurship barriers — access to capital, networks, and institutional support.
- Care and work — the economic cost of unpaid labour and the policy levers that could change it.
Who Presents
Presenters include both established researchers and early-career scholars. We are committed to amplifying work from the Global South alongside perspectives from Europe and North America.
